LEWCO, Inc. recently completed a custom oven for a leading company in the candy industry. As part of the candy manufacturing process, glucose needs to be heated for melting prior to being mixed with other ingredients. The glucose is stored in IBC’s/ totes and the oven can accommodate up to (8) totes at once, with a maximum operating temperature of 300°F.

Customer process requirements determined the use of a High-Performance Oven in place of a Traditional Hot Box. High-Performance Ovens have much higher convection and more heat capacity, which yields approximately 25% faster heat-up times compared to Traditional Hot Boxes.  This results in a higher production rate for the customer.

Due to ceiling space limitations at the customer’s facility, LEWCO engineers had to design a custom rear mounted heater box. The custom design created a shipping challenge because the oven was too large to ship fully assembled overseas.  LEWCO has an abundance of experience with field assembled ovens and developed a unique design to split the oven into multiple sections for shipping, while keeping installation as simple as possible.

LEWCO’s design team met the requirements of a tough specification and our manufacturing delivered a quality piece of equipment, sure to provide many years of service
